Boyd Burkeen, 80, of Mexia, passed away peacefully March 6, 2010 at Acuity Hospital in Houston. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home Chapel with Daniel Burkeen officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home.

Boyd was born on January 7, 1930 in Leon County, Texas to William & Ruth Brooks Burkeen. He spent his childhood in central Texas and retired to Mexia in 1985 after 35 years with Houston Shell & Concrete.

Mr. Burkeen was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen Valentine and son, Gary Burkeen. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Rogers of Houston and Wanda Marker of Channelview; son, David Burkeen of Groesbeck; brother, Lloyd Burkeen of Mexia; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
